Bill Summary:
SB73 will remove mandatory minimums on nonviolent drug offenses, no longer forcing judges to incarcerate individuals who would be better treated and supervised in their community. This bill will help reduce California's mass incarceration problem, which is a hardship on the communities it affects and a financial burden on the state.
